POSITION TITLE: Social Studies/History Teacher (Part-time)
LOCATION: Jefferson County JJAEP, 5030 Hwy. 69 S, Ste. 100, Beaumont, TX  77705

SALARY: Contingent upon experience

LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 94 days

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Valid Texas Teaching Certificate – Social Studies/History (Secondary preferred)

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Leadership, counseling, problem-solving skills
• Deal with students in a positive and effective manner 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review pertinent records for students and assess where the individual student should be placed in the desired curriculum
• Provide instruction for all students in an educational environment conducive to learning.
• Provide appropriate instruction for each individual student, modify instruction for special education, 504, at-risk, compensatory, ESL, bilingual, Title I, and all other special population programs
• Produce a curricular alignment with the home school
• Analyze assessment information
• Participate and assist in producing a formative and summative assessment
• Maintain a personal appearance that is conducive to a professional environment
• Communicate with principal any absence or tardy, per procedures
• Compile data on all special program conditions (Sp. Ed., 504, dyslexia, etc.) of at-risk students
• Maintain current files on all students by recording all instructional or disciplinary action taken and report this to the principal
• Maintain data on and keep track of all teaching materials assigned to each teacher
• Use innovative instructional approaches at the student individual, group, and class level; research any effective teaching practices for at-risk students
• Attend and participate in staff meetings, attend staff development, educational seminars, and workshops
• Network with any and all other appropriate personnel on the JCYA campus, Juvenile Probation Office, and Jefferson County
• Work as a team member-demonstrating flexibility, lending support to other projects/programs, and cooperating with certified and support staff members
• Function within the policies and administrative procedures of Region 5 Education Service Center
• Perform additional duties as designated by the ESC Designee, and/or Principal, to ensure the effective operation of the JCYA
