Position: Child Nutrition Program Coordinator
Department/Program: Business Operations /Child Nutrition Program
Location:  Edison Plaza, 350 Pine St., Ste. 500, Beaumont, Texas

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt; Pay Grade 7
Starting Salary: $57,660 contingent upon experience and skills 
Reports to: Denise Wallace, CFO 
Length of Work Year: 12 months, 231 Days

Primary Purpose:
To provide training, technical assistance, and support to districts for effective program operation with an ultimate goal of improving student performance, through the result of nutrition and wellness.

Minimum Qualifications:  

• Bachelor’s Degree in Institutional Management, Food Service, Business, Nutrition, Family and Consumer Science, Public Health, Education, or related field (two years’ work experience related to the essential duties and responsibilities may substitute for 1year education).  
• Minimum of three years’ experience in management of school or institutional food service operations preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of the Federal Child Nutrition Programs.
• Strong computer proficiency and software application or experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience as a Child Nutrition Director

Major Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities may change from year to year or during the year subject to changes in the legislation, regulations, policies, and guidelines governing the school meal programs as prescribed by TDA/USDA.

• Oversite of the Child Nutrition Programs in the Region 5 area inclusive of: National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), Seamless Summer Program, (SSO) and Food Distribution Program (FDP).
• Provide training and technical assistance to Contracting Entities (CEs)/Districts as described in the Statement of Work per TDA.
• Collaborate with other ESC regions to ensure equitable availability of training specialists across the state for all training events.
• Collaborate with other regions to facilitate the development and implementation of statewide training.
• Attend required state staff meetings scheduled by TDA
• Attend and participate in special committees and workgroups as directed by TDA
• Maintain effective program budgets, time and effort, technical assistance, reporting information, and CE files according to TDA/Region 5 guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as prescribed by TDA 
• Exercise initiative and judgment in performing project/program responsibilities.
• Function within the policies and administrative procedures of Region 5 ESC.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Supervision of Program Specialist, Program Technician and Program Assistant

The move to remote instruction has changed how employees perform their jobs and the conditions under which they carry out their duties.  At some point during your employment with Region 5 ESC, it may be necessary for you to work remotely.
You must plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and resources for distance or virtual instruction that reflects understanding of the learning styles and needs of clients and students according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
This may require you to be available by phone, email, or video conferencing to confer with Service Center or district personnel.
This position may be federally funded, either fully or partially.  The employee will be responsible for keeping time and effort reports and submitting on a monthly basis.  Changes in federal funding could impact budgets, payroll distributions, and/or employment status.
